9th Grade American Studies

Hello parents and students. For the two-week period of January 30 to February 10, we continue our study of Colonial America and begin our study of the creation of the Constitution. Students will be studying early American geography, history, and the challenges the colonial people and post-colonial people faced daily. Our big ideas will be the following:
1. How hostility between France and Britain caused France to enter the Revolution on the side of the colonies.
2. How as the American Revolution ended, a unique culture arose in the United States.
3. How the Articles of Confederation provided a workable but faulty national government.
4. How in the constitution, the Framers tried to uphold the rights of the states while providing the needed national authority.
Students will be viewing PowerPoint presentations and will also be determining the roots of Latin and Greek-based Academic English words.

10th Grade American Studies

Hello parents and students. For the two-week period of January 30 to February 10, we continue our study of Roman geography, history, and the challenges the Roman people and their subjects faced daily. Students will be studying the following big ideas:
1. How the Romans conquered and controlled the Italian Peninsula and then the entire Mediterranean world.
2. How internal instability of the Roman Empire eventually led to civil wars and increased power for the military.
3. How the Romans spread both Greek and Roman contributions to art, architecture, and literature throughout the empire.
4. How Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire and eventually became the state religion of Rome.
Students will be viewing PowerPoint presentations will also be determining the roots of Latin and Greek-based Academic English words.

11th Grade U.S.History

12th Grade Government

Hello parents and students. For the two-week period of January 30 to February 10, we continue our study of several interesting concepts focusing on the Federal System. Our big ideas will be the following:
1. How the powers are divided between our national government and state governments.
2. How the states interact with each other.
3. How the federalism developed.
4. How public policies are enacted.
Students will be viewing PowerPoint presentations and will be creating Venn diagrams, graphic organizers, and charts.
