Every school has its own unique personality set to engage students in the learning process. At Innovations, students are encouraged to explore the world around them by solving problems and taking what they have learned in the classroom to integrating skills with real-world problems.
Working in teams by grade level, students will utilize the core content subject matter for team building, collaboration, cooperation, creativity, and communication while developing strong resiliency and relationship building skills in an inclusive educational setting. We believe that the process of learning is as important as the product and that mastering skills can be more critical than memorizing concepts to be applied at a later time.
Innovations offers a rigorous, relevant curriculum based on the Nevada Academic Content Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. Our vision is to have every student enrolled given the opportunity to experience STEAM learning through the use of elective classes, exploration classes, and hands-on learning. STEAM education provides instruction and experiences in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. Utilizing STEAM learning, students will be prepared and equipped with the knowledge and skills required for success in college, careers, and life.
Student’s learning needs are to be assessed and provision made for these needs. Adjustment of the curriculum to meet individual student needs will be a continuous process and not a midyear or year-end consideration. Students are to be motivated to progress as rapidly as their ability permits. Teachers are to be alert to every student’s social, emotional, and academic needs and provide appropriate learning situations to meet them. Parents or guardians are to be informed regularly regarding the level of work being done by their children. Teachers and principals are to make this clear by use of the report card, progress reports, and parent conferences.
Students identified as being at risk for retention will be provided opportunities to participate in remediation programs at the school site as well as summer programs, tutorial programs, before and after school programs, and distance education.
