Specialized Education
Innovations uses dedicated staff to assist our students who have specialized learning needs. Special education is specially designed instruction provided to address the needs of a student who is eligible to receive special education services. Eligibility for special education follows a process of assessment and documentation of student need while receiving input and team meetings with the parents, school psychologist, and other school staff. Special education is provided at no cost to parents and may include related services to students with a specialized need.
Innovations practices inclusive education for its students having specialized educational needs. Inclusive education enables all students, regardless of social, emotional, or academic challenges to be placed in an age-appropriate general education classroom while receiving high-quality instruction, interventions, and supports that enable them to meet success and academic achievement in the core content curriculum.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004, often referred to as “IDEA,” provides federal funds to state and local agencies for the education of eligible students with disabilities. In order to be eligible to receive services under IDEA, a student must be determined to be a child with a disability and to need special education and related services .
